For many of us, IKEA is a staple in our homes and lives. From starving college students to established professionals, the Swedish furniture juggernaut has become the go-to home furnisher for people from all walks of life. The impact of IKEA has spread from their vast maze-like showroom floor into the world’s homes, and spawned an entire category of websites, blogs, and posts dedicated to do-it-yourself IKEA hacks.
From bookcases that transform into beds to shopping bags doubling as kid’s rain jackets, everything you can imagine can be found on these sites. Below is a list of some of our favorite DIY IKEA hacks.
1. Ikea Hackers
IKEA Hackers is a website dedicated to all things IKEA hacking. Though the site recently lost a battle to IKEA itself and will be relinquishing its domain name soon, it will revive and stay the best place for IKEA hacks.
2. 20 Excellent IKEA Hacks You Should Try via Mental Floss
Mental Floss compiled this great list of 20 IKEA hacks back in April. While I’m not sure how I feel about the arcade station, the other options listed here are definite wins.
3. 23 IKEA hacks via Style Me Pretty
Style Me Pretty compiled a great list of 23 IKEA Hacks. I was surprised how many of them looked so refined and were still so inexpensive. A couple of my favorite are listed here.
4. 101 IKEA Hacks via Everything Etsy
Everything Etsy really did a number (101 to be exact) on this great list of IKEA hacks from around the web. There’s a little bit of everything in here. Some are great, some seem more like art projects to me. Nevertheless, here are a few of my favorites.
My husband and I are looking at a house that has an HOA, but we never lived with one before so we are curious to know if there are benefits to having one. I liked how you pointed out that one good thing is that they will provide a landscape company to help with the yard work. It will be great not having to worry about spending all of our time doing it, but having it still look nice.
Very nice love the colors
I would love to have a tiny home to live in! It seems more manageable and affordable. The Hiatus in Oregon is beautiful. I love the wood floors. can you put a tiny house on any property? Thanks for the inspiration and information!
I have a home in Stamford CT and I am looking for someone to assume my mortgage. Not sure if you are interested in something like this based on what I saw on your website. Eric
